Like many people I find myself either overqualified or lacking the experience required by employers. After applying for a bunch of jobs with no responses I got bored and decided to start writing ridiculous cover letters. These are all real cover letters I have sent to real job listings, any responses I receive will of course be posted. If you have any suggestions of jobs I should apply for feel free to drop me a link by clicking on APPLY FOR THIS JOB below.

Work History

Sapling Games

09/2011 - Present

Co-Founder & Creative Director

Using my experience and knowledge in September I founded, along with three colleagues a small company with the aim to produce high quality games for the mobile market. In my capacity as Creative Director I have taken on abroad range of responsibilities, acting as Game Designer, Producer and Project Manager. We are currently working on our first game entitled Glow Bat.

Codemasters

11/2010 – 09/2011

QA/Compliance Technician

I have been working as part of the Compliance Team ensuring that both DiRT 3 and F1 2011 meet the high standards demanded by Sony and Microsoft. In this time I have attended project meetings with Producers, managed a team effectively and worked to generate update documents on projects as well as being part of the submission process.

I have also worked as part of the Quality Assurance Team for Operation Flashpoint: Red River on PlayStation 3. I have learned a great deal in a short time and developed a much greater knowledge of the game development process. I have made extensive use of databases as well as organising and managing my own time logically and efficiently.

HSBC

09/2008 - 08/2009

Debt Recovery Officer

I worked full time as part of HSBC’s debt recovery department, working with closed accounts, taking inbound and outbound calls to arrange affordable repayments for customers. I worked as part of a team, with monthly reviews and targets.

Subway

05/2008 - 09/2009

Sandwich Artist

I worked full time at Subway, quickly taking on many responsibilities. These included; stock checking, closing the store, calculating work hours for employees, ordering stock and general managerial responsibilities whilst the manager took an extended leave.

Hobbies, Interests and Skills

Over the past year I have also been heavily involved with a new website specialising in Technology and Gaming news. In my capacity as an editor I have reported on recent news and events in the Gaming world, whilst also contributing a number of in-depth editorials on subjects I feel passionately about. This has allowed me to develop my skills as a writer and work under pressure in order to stay relevant.

I have a good knowledge of Agile Management techniques and practices. As well as practical working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programmes, including Project and Excel. I have also spent time learning how to use a variety of databases including JIRA, Hansoft and Target Process.

I have a great love of music; I spend a lot of time listening to a very wide variety of music and enjoy discovering new bands with the same excitement as I did when I was 14.  I enjoy playing guitar quite badly, something which I have done for a number of years, and have a number of instruments which I struggle to play.

I was Head of Music for Bay Radio at Aberystwyth University, where I kept the playlist up to date, hosted 3 different shows and DJed at regular events. I was a committee member for Aber Amnesty with which I helped organise and arrange a number of successful club nights and demonstrations to raise awareness of issues and funding.

I do also enjoy spending too much time playing lots of video games, of all types, with a special love for Nintendo.

I hold a full clean driving licence.
